JOB SUMMARY
This position reports to the Senior Manager of Market Research and will provide Primary and Secondary Market Research support for the Nucynta brand team and portfolio reporting. The Manager, Market Research is responsible for helping internal partners/stakeholders make informed strategic and operational decisions. She/he will lead primary and secondary market research and reporting, to provide actionable recommendations based on market insights that address key business needs.
Market research report recipients include C-suite and executive level functions, so the highest level of data accuracy and attention to detail is a critical requirement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Identify and communicate timely and actionable insights, conclusions and recommendations by synthesizing multiple analytic sources and using a range of methods including, but not limited to:
Primary market research
-Managing all aspects of market research including initiation of the RFP process, vendor selection, study design, contract execution, budget management, and scope of services.
-Independently leading all aspects of project planning, such as coordination, setting time lines, scheduling participant meetings, shaping insights, conclusions and recommendations, presenting results, and communicating initiatives and progress to brand teams, senior management, and vendors.
Secondary data and analytics
-Lead monthly/weekly performance reporting and distribution for all Depomed markets
-Analyze data and reports for QC and interpretation on a routine basis and prior to release to customers.
-Fulfill Market Research ad-hoc requests for Executive Management, Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing Business Development Departments and other functions.
-Research and assess companies in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries, including secondary research.
Competitive intelligence tracking and ongoing maintenance of related summary documents
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external partners, to ensure alignment and prioritization of goals and resources across multiple initiatives.
Maintain a comprehensive and deep understanding of relevant therapeutic markets, by acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in areas of responsibility, when required.
Manage external vendors and consultants to enable effective and efficient project execution.
Ensure team deliverables meet or exceed service-level expectations for quality, timeliness, and budget.
Introduce innovative approaches to business problems and lead key department initiatives.
Up to 20% Travel

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A BA degree is required. An MA or M.B.A. degree is a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience, in market research (primary research:
qualitative and quantitative, and secondary research) and/or similar market analysis.
Strong understanding of both common and innovative market research frameworks and methods with proven ability to lead all phases of marketing research projects.
Knowledge of pharmaceutical market research data sources.
Previous experience in competitive intelligence and secondary data analysis.
Experience leading market research for in-market products, including brand positioning, messaging, and tracking studies. Support of a launch brand is plus.
Experience in supporting multiple support functions and stakeholders.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
A proactive self-starter with speed to action in communicating insights. Ability to prioritize and drive own work.
Ability to translate substantial amounts of data and findings into insights, conclusions and recommendations.
General pharmaceutical database queries and downloads, e.g. SHA (Symphony Health), IMS, Encuity, DCL (Dynamic Claims Lifecycle), etc.
Accuracy and attention to detail with data, analyses, reports and communications.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
Ability to rapidly learn new software applications and commercial databases.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Sense of urgency and responsiveness to all levels of the organization.
Strong presentation and communication skills. Succinct, strategic, and actionable insights to senior executives.
Ability to juggle multiple projects for in-market U.S. team needs.
