The Role:
Develop and execute test plans to optimize cell performance (high power charge and discharge) for real world EV usage scenarios Propose and lead failure mode analyses on battery cell usage in extreme conditions, explore innovative solutions to enhance the durability and reliability of the cell at different stages of life Work with external suppliers to ensure products meet expected performance targets and specifications Evaluate and benchmark new battery cell technologies using both electrochemical and analytical techniques, provide insights on the relationship between cell s usage and material selection in EV application Present results to multiple cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of battery cell into the vehicle
Qualifications:
A critical, independent, and curious mindset Able to discover insights based on experimental data Strong documentation and communication skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations Good understanding and intuition of Li-ion battery electrochemistry Knowledge of battery operating characteristics at cell and its relationship with the system level Able to design comprehensive test plans to characterize battery performance and safety Hands-on experience running cell tests and working with commercial lithium-ion cells on Maccor or Arbin cyclers.
Preferred:
Strong data analysis background.
Experience with Python, Matlab, JMP, Tableau, Grafana, and/or SQL database systems Working experience in EV battery industries and/or collaborating with Tier 1 cell suppliers Experience with cylindrical, prismatic, and other commercial cell form factors Experience in developing Hardware/Software-in-loop (HIL/SIL) models in Simulink to control test parameters for battery testing Education:
PhD, or Masters with 3
years of relevant work experience, or Bachelors with 5
years of relevant work experience Salary Range:
The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
